I recovered some files for a user but when I try to make a share on the local network windows 10 just cannot connect. I am not having any issues with my current system. Here is the images below. It took me a long time just to get bast the unable to access share dialog box. Now this new dialog box. I get prompted for the password of the user. I enter it, but then the error in the last image Clipboard04 appears.

I have tried so many things to get it working but no luck so far. It also works on my two windows 10 boxes, one is Pro at and the other is Home at Its not working on the users windows 10 home I tried using an account that I know is working and I get the same error. When I tried the users account from the working platforms it also failed which makes me think its a config in freenas; but, I am reminded that my working account did not work on the users computer.

Right click the share and look at your security settings and see if anything is weird there. When setting the permission type to linux, it cant be changed in windows.

Ok, I setup a windows 8. I turned off password protected sharing. All my computers could connect with out a password. This user access the pc through a microsoft live account. I dont think this should make a difference once logged on. Ssh in to it and set perms on the particular folder to to match your current scheme if it works for you. Return to Level1Techs. Ask Ubuntu works best with JavaScript enabled. If you have already installed the FreeNAS on a PC or server hardwarethere are a few steps that you need to follow before you can share a folder to network users, including creating a new user account, storage pool, and dataset. The first step to share a folder using FreeNAS is to create a user account to access the storage. Use these steps to create a new user on FreeNAS :.

Create new FreeNAS user account Once you complete the steps, the user will be created on the server, and you can proceed to create a new pool. When setting up FreeNAS, you must create a pool, which is a logical group of physical drives that you can then use to create volumes vdevs using the ZFS file system advanced features. Create new pool Type a name for the new storage pool — for example, StorageCollection1.

FreeNAS encryption key download After you complete the steps, the FreeNAS pool will be created, and you can now proceed to create a dataset that will host folders that you want to share in the network. Click the settings three-dotted button next to the pool and select the Add Dataset option. FreeNAS dataset configuration Click the settings three-dotted button next to the dataset and select the Edit Permissions option.

Once you complete the steps, the dataset will be created inside the pool, and you can now continue setting up a folder that will be accessible by all Windows 10 computers. FreeNAS add new Windows share folder Click the folder, navigate, and select the dataset you created earlier. After you complete the steps, the shared folder will be created, and it can be accessed by any Windows machine.

Changes for v9. Preserve the Samba SID across reboots and upgrades. Fix two problems in the config file generator for CTL: 1. Unbreak device extents when using physical devices or multi path devices. Unbreak the case when target auth or discover auth is set to Auto. Fix a priviledge escalation issue. Save debug now includes the output of zpool history.

Improve performance of viewing snapshots when replication tasks are set up. Validate AD advanced settings. If the GC or DC are manually specified make sure they are reachable. Netatalk does not play nicely with ACLs. Fix a bug in the mail sending routines used by FreeNAS. Fix a bug that prevented the system from showing the replicated status of a snapshot if the remote path differed from the local path.

This can be used to improve replication performance at the expense of sending your data over the wire in cleartext. Think private 10Gbe interlink Resolve issue with vlan interface locking that could cause a kernel panic when creating a number of VLAN interfaces.

Add support for compressing replication jobs with lz4. They can still be set in Auxiliary parameters if truly desired. Delete potentially harmful kmem size tunables created in former times by the autotuner. Also updated autotuner to set tunables and sysctls according to current best practices.

Jails now auto-start properly when importing a volume containing jails. The System Dataset now has its own Settings UI that allows you to control the placement of various sub-datasets under it. The System Dataset will now migrate if you change the pool assignment, preserving your data and also moving it off the previous pool. Several bugs which broke ZFS snapshot replication when snapshots expired before replication could complete successfully, or if the connection between the replication peers failed, have been fixed.

A new Virtualbox jail template has been added. Supporting Virtualbox in a jail is as easy as creating an instance of this template. This will boot into the installer which can ease installation on systems without an optical drive. This image will also work if burned to a CD.

Pool import time for healthy pools has been improved by a factor of 3x in many cases. Users who were using a tunable to load mps3 the beta LSI driver can safely delete that tunable as that driver has been removed from the build and replaced by the official driver.

Additionally while one should be able to migrate between targets at will this has not been well tested and VMWare at least notices the change. The new target is designed to be backed by zvols. While it works with files not all features are enabled and performance may suffer.

The new target also enables FC target mode with a few additional tweaks. It is licensed under the terms of the BSD License and runs on commodity x hardware. Advanced FreeNAS features include full-disk encryption and a plug-in architecture for third-party software. FreeNAS is managed through a comprehensive web interface that is supplemented by a minimal shell console that handles essential administrative functions.

The web interface supports storage pool configuration, user management, sharing configuration and system maintenance. The FreeNAS operating system is fully independent of its storage disks, allowing its configuration database and encryption keys to be backed up and restored to a fresh installation of the OS.

This separation also allows for FreeNAS system upgrades to be performed through the web interface. Volker Theile joined the project in July and became the project lead in April In Septemberthe development team concluded that the project, then at release. Multichannel, which is a feature of SMB 3 a Microsoft file sharing protocolenables people to simply and easily aggregate multiple physical network links and allows a single client to utilize the combined bandwidth.

As of Windows 8 and later SMB 3 multichannel is included and enabled by default. At the same time, Microsoft has refined the drivers for this process to a point where setting it up is plug'n'play in most instances. Not only are there prerequisites, but your configuration has to follow specific instructions.

It should also be known that Samba support for multichannel as of late is still considered experimental and your mileage may vary. Samba has no official support for it but it can work with the right setup.

What are the prerequisites? You can check what version you have by entering shell and using the command samba --version. If your version is outdated, update FreeNAS. What hardware is needed? There are a few options. You can use a single multiport NIC that has 2 or 4 ports, or you can use multiple NICs, which will offer redundancy, as, with SMB multichannel, if the aggregated link is lost the remaining link s will continue to operate at the cost of reduced performance.

Each machine will require an equal number of ports. You will also require a network switch. Any layer 2 switch should suffice, as long as it has a sufficient number of ports and the ports support speeds equal to that of the NICs. How to configure: This is where things differ quite a bit from Microsoft's implementation on Windows. Note that the interface configuration on your Windows machine will need to follow the same structure as on the FreeNAS server.

Microsoft setup the protocol to work in 2 different ways. You can't access this shared folder because your organization's security policies block unauthenticated guest access. These policies help protect your PC from unsafe or malicious devices on the network.

Guidance: This event indicates that the server tried to log on the user as an unauthenticated guest but was denied by the client.

Guest logons do not support standard security features such as signing and encryption. Therefore, guest logons are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks that can expose sensitive data on the network. Windows disables "insecure" nonsecure guest logons by default. Skip to main content. Tous les produits. User name: NedServer name: ServerName Guidance: This event indicates that the server tried to log on the user as an unauthenticated guest but was denied by the client.

Log entry 2. This event indicates that an administrator has enabled insecure guest logons. An insecure guest logon occurs when a server logs on the user as an unauthenticated guest. Therefore, allowing guest logons makes the client vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks that can expose sensitive data on the network.

Windows disables insecure guest logons by default. This change in default behavior is by design and is recommended by Microsoft for security. If a remote device is configured to use guest credentials, an administrator should disable guest access to that remote device and configure correct authentication and authorization. Microsoft-provided operating systems do not.
